Significance
This largely formalises the administrative status quo since the October 25 coup, but it also underscores that a resolution to the political impasse between the coup leaders and civilian political forces that could lead to the formation of a new government is not in sight. That in turn jeopardises prospects for renewed international financial support, at least in the near term.
Impacts
Donor countries may re-programme aid allocations to reduce funds' exposure to the government.
The military may hope to secure some direct financial assistance from Gulf states.
Even with some renewed aid, economic conditions may deteriorate further, compounding public discontent.
Levels of foreign and domestic investment will remain depressed.
