Subject
Prospects for global infrastructure in 2016.
Significance
Infrastructure financing developments in 2016 portend an acceleration in capital investment in Asia, especially on trade-facilitating logistics projects. This is due, in part, to rising competition between China and Japan, which will proceed with new or expanded bilateral and multilateral schemes. In contrast, US congressional obstructions will hamper funding there, while EU funds will struggle to find projects to back.
