Subject
Prospects for Nigeria in 2016.
Significance
President Muhammadu Buhari's government has the opportunity next year to prove its economic direction, which has been criticised as unarticulated and poorly managed so far. Investor unease over unorthodox policies is set apart from popular patience in the government's reform credentials. However, a groundswell of disaffection in the south-east will test the administration's ability to handle popular protest in difficult economic times.
