Significance
Duterte has the most ambitious and radical plans for government of any of the post-Marcos presidents, but he also faces the most significant national political challenges to achieving his stated agenda.
Impacts
Aquino's administration will work with Duterte, implying a relatively smooth transition of power.
China may welcome Duterte's election, but he may not be able to reduce South China Sea pressures.
Until and unless Duterte builds relationships with congress, policy-making will be slowed.
