Prospects for the space sector during 2017-22.
Significance
The emergence of a sector known as 'NewSpace' will be a key development over the coming five years. The term describes small start-up companies using off-the-shelf components and low-cost procedures to design, build and launch small satellites quickly -- in contrast to the bureaucratic, high-cost, government-funded programmes known as 'Big Space'.
