Subject
Prospects for Pakistan in the second half of 2018.
Significance
Pakistan’s general election is scheduled for July 25, with Shehbaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) aiming to retain power and Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leading the opposition challenge. Whichever party forms a government, it will have to contend with the country’s mounting twin deficits and complex diplomatic entanglements.
