Significance
Now in absolute command, re-elected President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will push ahead with his vision of making Turkey a regional hegemon. althought the cost may prove prohibitive. Problems now facing him include the economy: global monetary tightening, lira weakness and rising inflation have forced interest rates higher, and activity has started to slow.
