Subject
Prospects for North Africa in 2019.
Significance
Tunisia and Algeria face elections that will be complicated by protests over hardship -- protests are also a concern for Morocco. Libya is planning elections, but the House of Representatives is currently blocking progress amid persistent tensions between the country’s divided administrations. Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi may consider changing the constitution to extend his rule beyond elections in 2022.
