Significance
Barr would replace Jeff Sessions, who recused himself from overseeing the probe, which critics of Trump and his administration believe will reveal information sufficient to impeach the president. If Barr is confirmed, responsibility for overseeing Mueller passes to him; speculation is therefore rife over how Barr would approach this.
