Prospects for Central America in 2020.
Significance
Central America will begin 2020 with several new presidents, each tasked with addressing the region’s perennial challenges of corruption, insecurity and undocumented migration. Doing so will be difficult, and failure could trigger a powerful backlash, as widespread protests against established governments illustrate.
