Significance
Public opinion about both the DCA and tensions in Ukraine is less favourable towards the United States, bolstered by strong criticism from opposition leaders. They will attempt to call a referendum that combines questions on the agreement and on changing the constitution to allow early elections called by referendum.
Impacts
The government will be reluctant to deploy troops from other NATO states on its territory if the situation in Ukraine deteriorates.
Tensions in the fractious four-party coalition government will continue: some of their deputies voted against the DCA.
The prosecutor-general’s vocal opposition to the DCA suggests he has serious presidential ambitions.
