Significance
Egypt also took part in the Negev Summit in March along with the foreign ministers of Israel, the United States and three other Arab states, and it hosted a secret meeting attended by the Israeli army’s chief of staff and delegations from several Arab countries. Reconciliation efforts with Turkey are also under way.
Impacts
Egypt will be keen to protect the status quo with Israel as it derives strategic benefits from it.
Cairo will cautiously pursue understandings with Turkey, and to a lesser extent Iran.
A conciliation between the government and the Muslim Brotherhood is unlikely in the near future.
