Subject
Prospects for Nigeria in 2023.
Significance
The first months of 2023 will be focused on the upcoming national and state-level elections. The economy is suffering from debt, inflation and downward pressure on the currency. This is compounded by constantly growing insecurity, which includes jihadist insurgencies, widespread banditry, farmer-herder conflict, separatism and religious conflict. Meanwhile, severe oil theft has cut into the government’s financial viability.
