Significance
Biden used last week’s State of the Union address to lay out his priorities for the year ahead, offering a speech intended to rally his party and demonstrate his commitment and vitality. Issues covered in the speech will form the basis of his re-election campaign.
Impacts
Biden’s supporters and critics will use different aspects of the speech to prolong debate about the significance of the president’s age.
The hour after the speech was his best single hour for online fundraising since Biden began campaigning, showing it connected with his base.
Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and cabinet secretaries are traveling to swing states this month to build on momentum from the speech.
