Significance
The Huthis, who control north-western Yemen, remain undeterred by past Israeli retaliatory strikes, which included attacks on fuel storage facilities and power plants in Hodeida and Ras Issa, adjoining ports on the Red Sea coast. The economic impact of air strikes is limited, and conditions in northern Yemen suggest more resilience than is recognised internationally.
Impacts
Humanitarian aid needs will not grow unless major fighting escalates within the country, which is unlikely at present.
The Aden-based Internationally Recognised Government may seek increased support from the new US administration in 2025.
With Lebanese Hezbollah degraded, Iran may consider increasing support to strengthen further the Huthis in Yemen.
