This study examines the typology and digital representation of archival documentary publications by developing a structured system of evaluation criteria and demonstrating its application within a digital archival environment used as an applied case.
This research adopts an interdisciplinary approach integrating archival science, archaeography, publishing studies, librarianship and computer science. This study analyses typological models relevant to the organisation and presentation of electronic documentary publications, including hierarchical, relational and hybrid structures. The proposed typological framework is grounded in national and state archival standards as well as international digital publishing guidelines and is applied to a documented digital platform environment to assess its practical applicability.
The proposed typological framework contributes to the verification of authenticity, structural coherence and interactive use of archival materials in digital formats. This study clarifies the structural components of electronic documentary publications and supports improved organisation, access and security within digital archival environments.
While the analysis is primarily situated within the Russian archival and regulatory context, the interdisciplinary approach and hierarchical system of criteria offer potential for adaptation and application in broader international settings, subject to local standards and regulatory frameworks.
The typology provides methodological guidance for the development and evaluation of digital archival publications, supporting improved practices in presentation, preservation and user engagement.
