Work-Based Learning and Higher Education Policy and Practice: The New Political and Financial Environment.

17-18th November 2011 – York

Key conference themes will include:

  • new markets and services for higher level work-based learning – delivering what employers and learners require;

  • maximising university and college income from employers and individual learners by delivering learning and developing skills that deliver business and individual benefits;

  • the role of higher education in continuing professional development for the professions, mnagers and other employees;

  • UK and international innovation in higher level skills and work-based learning;

  • the expansion and development of higher education delivery in further education;

  • higher education, skills, work-based learning and vocational progression and social mobility; and

  • what is higher education vis-à-vis higher level skills development?

The conference will focus on the research agenda for higher level skills and work-based learning. All accepted papers will be eligible for submission to Higher Education, Skills and Work-based Learning (HESWBL).
