Purpose – outlines the approach being taken to health and well-being at the Royal Mail (UK), describing the company’s employee assistance programme, which is run for it by Atos Healthcare. Design/methodology/approach– explains the employee assistance programme, including who has access to the benefits and its impact on absence rates. Insets give the view of the organization’s head of health on the programme and the views of an employee who has used it. Findings – reports that the outsourced employee assistance programme has been a success, reducing absence and increasing productivity. Originality/value – profiles an employee assistance programme.
