Looks at whether human resource managers can use the 2012 Olympic Games as an opportunity borrow techniques from sport to motivate and develop managers and employees. Points out that many people are interested in why sports people and teams are successful and that many of the techniques used in sport are transferable to the workplace. Looks, in particular, at the value of coaching, asking why it has not been taken up by business leaders despite its acceptance among human resource professionals. Also points out that manager and leaders should take time to rest and reflect after achieving major success, in the same way as sportspeople rest after major competitions.
