Argues that many change programmes fail because leaders believe so strongly in the vision that they refuse to believe evidence that it is not working or because they underestimate the impact of seemingly small decisions. Explains a model known as Gleicher’s Formula that can be used to determine if an improvement programme will be successful. Describes how the model can be used alongside the analysis of employees’ personal commitment to change to give organizations a better understanding of how to manage change. Based on this, gives a breakdown of the steps involved in implementing change, discussing how to communicate it to those involved in achieving it and how to manage the change process.
