Reports that even major companies, such as accounting and professional services firm Deloitte, which has a sizable operation in Australia, are facing the same recruitment challenges experienced by other Australian companies who cannot find talented ICT professionals as their business grows. Describes how Robert Hillard, partner and national leader for Deloitte Technology Consulting, decided to adopt professional certification for a number of reasons, including meeting these recruitment challenges, but also as a powerful signifier of its commitment to professional standards. Explains that Hillard also believes the importance of professional certification will only increase as the industry matures and as society’s reliance on technology increases. Records that Deloitte hopes to ease this shortage by encouraging more people to enrol in technology degree courses at university, and the organization is working with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and other industry bodies to attain this goal.ISSN: 1324-5945Reference: 41AA895
