Manager-training contract extended
Manager-training contract extended
Manchester Business School has won an 18-month extension to a contract to provide training internships in Britain to managers from Russia, Ukraine,Kazakhstan, Kurgistan and Moldova.
The programme, financed under the EU Tacis (technical assistance for the Commonwealth of Independent States) scheme, has provided more than 1,000 traineeships in Europe for managers from Russia and the newly-independent states since 1999. The contract extension will provide for a further 1,000 to be trained in western Europe.
In one example of a recent placement, a Russian journalist spent six weeks working at Messenger Newspapers in Manchester, examining ways in which the papers can attract more readers in the 15-35 age group. In addition to their company secondments, the managers attend seminars on business practice and economic issues affecting the EU.
The programme, managed by a consortium of partners from eight European countries, is worth a total 6.9 million euros, of which the Manchester Business School will receive 1.1 million euros.
