National Grid achieves British Learning Association quality mark
National Grid has been awarded the British Learning Association’s quality mark for its learning-centre operation in Warwick, England. Processes on which the company was independently audited included learning facilitation, learner support, integrating learning and access, and use of the learning centre.
Pam Mosedale, lead business partner for National Grid, said: “I am delighted to receive the BLA quality mark for our learning hub at Warwick. We have been working hard over the past 18 months to change the service provision from an information service to a true learning centre for all National Grid employees around the country. This award demonstrates our achievement of aligning everything we do to meet business needs and the improved motivation and productivity of our staff.”
Lance Spraggons, who chairs the Quality Forum, commented: “The number of organizations that have registered for the quality mark continues to grow and I am delighted to welcome National Grid to the list of quality-mark holders. The fact that the quality mark has been awarded for its learning-centre operation, which has been running for only a short period of time, is testament to the company’s commitment in not only providing a high-quality service but also to the high standards that the BLA quality mark looks for.”
The quality mark is designed to drive quality improvement in the development, provision and use of learning solutions across all sectors. It establishes a common set of quality indicators for all aspects of learning-resource provision, delivery and use, to give confidence to purchasers and learners.
It is based on a framework adapted from the European Foundation for Quality Management model. The BLA believes that this provides a robust, objective and internationally recognized model of excellence.
