Social-housing regeneration specialist Forrest is supporting the development needs of its clients by extending its award-winning training program to suppliers.

Forrest Learn, as the initiative is named, offers training placements to customers and sub-contractors in its supply chain on a range of accredited health and safety courses.

The training on offer includes asbestos awareness, managing and working safely,as well as modules on manual handling and working at height.

Each course runs a designated number of external places to ensure that clients and sub-contractors always have quick and easy access to development programs.

Forrest is nationally recognised for the training services it provides, having been named a regional winner for large employer of the year at last year’s National Training Awards.

Paul Rigby, Learning and Development Manager, said: “With Forrest Learn we have taken an innovative approach to skill development, sharing our internal expertise with those we work closest to for the good of the whole workforce.

“For our clients and sub-contractors, it offers a convenient and cost-effective way of gaining access to accredited services, while we can be assured that the people we are working with are expertly qualified and operating to leading industry standards”.

Beth Gallagher, Responsive-Repairs Manager of Calico Homes, an affordable-housing provider that Forrest works with, was among the first people to receive Institute of Occupational Safety and Health managing-safely training through Forrest Learn and is reaping the benefits.

She said: “The IOSH managing-safely course has given me a thorough understanding of my responsibilities for health and safety in the workplace. The training was both interesting and informative, and delivered in a style and at a pace suitable for people with differing levels of understanding and experience. I would thoroughly recommend it”.
