Initiative from the engineering union; In the February issue of the AUEW Journal, Hugh Scanlon, president of the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers and chairman of the Engineering Industry Training Board, published an article entitled Apprenticeships — Engineering Industry. It contained a proposal for fundamental changes in the conditions of apprenticeship in the engineering industry.
