Currently there are many innovations in training, particularly in new ways of delivering and assessing training programmes. Innovations are usually tested in pilot programmes, to assess the effectiveness of the new design. Most successful pilot programmes have certain key characteristics in common. Sets out ten rules which should be followed in order to make sure pilot programmes are successful. The rules cover essential aspects of design, planning, resource allocation, recruiting and briefing participants, evaluating results and building on success.
