This is the second part of a two‐part article. The first was about the big issues arising largely from globalisation, how they are affecting our thinking and consciousness and how businesses and individuals are responding. This second part is about what individuals can do, ways of getting issues on to the agendas of leaders and organisations and processes for helping them see the opportunities and decide and plan what they want to do. An approach currently being used with directors and senior managers is described. What is important is to see the business opportunities in these issues: if we grasp them our businesses are more likely to discover new markets, products, services and technologies and be in the forefront. If we are complacent or hide our heads in the sand, we will be left behind. Facilitating this process is a huge challenge and opportunity for human resource development personnel and internal or external consultants.
