Finds that, in work with managers and facilitators, problems with colleagues, bosses and subordinates are among the most frequently mentioned sources of difficulty. Apart from the anguish which is often involved, failure to work well with conflict and to welcome and harness diversity can sap energy and goodwill, create an unhappy climate for people in which to work and lead to poor decisions, whether strategic or day‐to‐day. Questions why good people with the best intentions often get themselves into such a tangle, why many people do not feel fully respected or valued and are not sufficiently involved. Attempts to find some explanations; demonstrates various ways in which our difficulties manifest themselves and offers some constructive and healthier approaches which can help.
