HSS launches apprenticeship program

HSS Hire, a UK supplier of tool and equipment hire and outsourcing services, has launched a new multi-discipline NVQ apprenticeship program, with 50 places in the first wave.

The program accommodates a broad set of skills – flexing to find and develop individuals’ strengths to achieve the qualification and provide a springboard into the world of work.

John Hardman, HR director at HSS Hire, said: “We think apprenticeships are a hugely important training option for young people. They get a valuable qualification and get people into work, too. In our case, apprentices learn about the whole operation. This builds confidence and lets people see all the options that are open to them.

“We have had outstanding successes by recognizing and encouraging talent in this way. Some of our best people started under previous apprenticeship programs, so we really believe in them.

“The new scheme is an exciting major investment – and a formal commitment to develop new, skilled and qualified workers.”

HSS also operates a successful and growing three-year plant-maintenance City and Guilds apprenticeship program.
