The long-running Design & Technology Education Show, now in its 22nd year, is to expand this year by featuring science among its topics. Many suppliers of science equipment and resources have already asked to participate and science teachers will find themselves invited to a major specialised exhibition in a national venue for the first time. Previously, D&T has been the only subject in the school curriculum to have its own national show.

The three-day event at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham will now be called The Design Technology with Science Education Show and will take place from 4-6 November 1999.

Show Director, Peter Dicker, said: "This will enhance what is already a well established, highly thought of event. The teaching of D&T and science have always had close links and a certain amount of overlap. Combining the interests in one show will have beneficial results for schools and colleges.

"Other new features are being planned and we shall be changing the format of the accompanying seminar programme to make it more convenient for visiting teachers.''
