Laboratory brings training to the world

A company is using information technology to deliver exactly the same training to its partners and clients across the globe as it can offer at its training laboratory in Paris.
Ipanema has created a complete remote laboratory that enables classes to be delivered anywhere in the world. Participants get the full, hands-on training experience, without the company having to ship equipment to remote locations. Of course, they can also attend classroom sessions at the company’s training centers in Chertsey, UK, or Paris, or they can have a course delivered at a location of their choice.
Ipanema, which claims to simplify network operations and cut costs for large multinational corporations, counts major telecommunication, banking, pharmaceutical and automobile companies among its clients. “In a nutshell,we guarantee critical-application performance and make a 1,000-site network feel like one,” said a company spokesman.
It increased its training delivery by 40 percent during the first half of 2009, compounding the 253 percent growth between 2004 and 2008. Through the remote laboratory, Ipanema aims to meet the training demands of its growing number of partners and customers from across Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Asia.
The remote laboratory is a duplicate of the company’s existing system in Paris. It was provided in conjunction with independent training company Q6.
Nigel Pink, Ipanema vice-president and general manager for the UK and Ireland, explained: “Our business is growing significantly. To support this growth, accessible and high-quality training is key … Through Q6, we will ensure that our partners and customers can deploy our systems with greater precision. This, in turn, will help them to reduce their network costs and guarantee their business-critical applications.”
Training for channel partners is based on building their knowledge of Ipanema’s product range, so they can increase sales. Guidance to service providers focuses on how to configure and support the products to achieve the best results for their customers. And end users are shown how to maximize their network infrastructure to deliver cost savings and a good return on their investment.
As part of the training program, Q6 will undertake a training-needs analysis of Ipanema’s key audiences, to ensure the training is both effective and appropriate.
