The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB), in the UK, has had some of its catalogues, about 38,000 titles, added to the Library of Congress, USA,Online Union Catalogue. This catalogue includes the holdings of the Library of Congress National Library Service together with the alternative format collections of Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and now the UK. This represents over 340,000 bibliographic records of Braille and audio publications.
This collaboration means that RNIB listings will be available online as part of an international catalogue. Its publications can still be requested directly from RNIB or via interlibrary loan from other libraries. Publications from other countries should now be available to users in the UK via RNIB's international interloan arrangement.
