CURL – Shares interlending project
Keywords: Interlibrary lending, Research libraries
A new interlending project has been implemented by CURL, using RLIN (Research Libraries Information Network) and ILL Manager, two systems developed by RLG(Research Libraries Group). The project, which began in November 2000, focuses on monographs, as did the earlier CURL interlending project of 1997. This pilot, however, has the added benefit of being able to request and process ILL transactions through the use of RLIN software, a common, reliable interface which was missing from the first CURL pilot. The development of ILL Manager is a further benefit for the pilot and the libraries of Oxford, Manchester,Liverpool, Newcastle, Southampton and Trinity Dublin have volunteered as test sites for the new software.
An interim report on the pilot's project will be compiled after approximately six months, with a final report planned at the official end of the project in December 2001.
