The ever-useful Library and Information Statistical tables have some interesting stuff on the UK scene. The fold out A3 glossy folds up to fit into a pocket to be whipped out at appropriate moments. The British Library Document Supply Centre holds 262,290 serial titles and subscribes to 56,990 (although I think the latter figure is rather on the high side), there are 375 National Health Service libraries with an average number of serial titles per library of 133. A total of 116,415 book titles were published in the UK (not including reprints) – so much for the death of print. Academic staff used ILL services ten times per academic in the year in old universities and 12 in new.
