Brian Kahlefeld's book is a thought-provoking 90 minutes worth of reading, that has sold more than 20,000 copies since it was first published in 2004. It is founded on his personal reflections of a long and varied career in business and it covers five main topics: Mind power, Character, Communications and relationships, Work and business and Making it happen.
The author's purpose is to provide the reader with a practical framework that might be used to evaluate his/her own pool of knowledge and experience and in so doing, consider whether these assets are being utilized as effectively as possible. The framework for the book is based on what the author terms"practices, principles and laws of life" and the appeal of the book lies in the journey of self reflection and discovery that is required to make best use of this resource. The writing style is clear and straight-forward and on first reading, it seems like a book of common sense, applied to a business context. The author makes the point however that to go deeper, the reader must re-read and apply the principles to their own situation and this is what makes the book so appealing.
To quote from one of the endorsements of Brian Kahlefeld's book, this is a refreshingly good self-help book that takes just an hour and a half to read. It provides an insightful framework on life, work and personal assets (knowledge and experience) and the outcome should enable the reader to consider how wisely they are currently deploying these assets and what improvements they might make. This is not a "quick fix" book - its value to the reader lies in using this book as a tool to reflect on their situation. This is a worthwhile exercise -certainly for mid career practitioners. Finally, it is worth noting that the author donates all proceeds from the sale of the book to charities and humanitarian causes, some of which are outlined in the details about the author.
