Considers a hypothetical law school library, L.A. Law Lib, and its bid to become a leader in library automation. Discusses key issues for implementing on‐line access to its extensive catalogue, and carefully considers the open nature of the Internet and its implications for law libraries. Details problem of resolving conflicts between the needs of end‐users of the system and system managers.
