Brother is hoping to create some heat in the laminator market with its new LX-200 Cool Laminator which coats the substrate without the use of heat. The LX-200 uses a film cartridge to laminate the documents; this means that heat sensitive documents such as photographs can be laminated. The lack of heat also has other advantages - the device also needs no warm-up time and boasts a miserly power consumption of 13w against a traditional hot-melt machine's typical 600w. The clear coating contains a UV filter to prevent yellowing and fading and the machine incorporates an automatic cutting and finishing system.
