Future Manufacturing Development in Taiwan

Taiwan is a small country of 20 million people which has considerably more importance on the world manufacturing and trading stage than mere numbers would suggest. Recent figures show Taiwan to be the 13th largest trading economy in the world and it is the 12th biggest exporter of manufactured products. In less than 40 years Taiwan has transformed itself from a wholly agricultural society to a leader in the group of newly industrialized countries. Taiwan′s economy, based on manufacturing, performed remarkably well in the 1980s and is continuing to grow at about 7 per cent per annum.
