In this issue there is a paper examining the links between the implementation of IT and higher productivity. As one who works in IT, my view is that its use has the potential to improve productivity but often that potential goes unrealised. This is mostly because the underlying business processes and procedures fail the IT. The end result is that people end up serving the system rather than the system serving the people.
