Student distractions
Once, a bit of music was considered conducive to studying – it helped create a relaxing atmosphere. Now the proliferation of personal gadgets –mobile phones, e-mail devices, music players, etc. – is causing so many distractions that students find it hard to study and academic productivity is down. Even when they start “on task” the internet leads them onto sidetracks and down blind alleys. Students need courses in time management, stress management, prioritisation and work planning.
