Engineering education and the development of competencies for sustainability

Osvaldo Luiz Gonçalves Quelhas was President of Production Engineering Brazilian Association (ABEPRO). He is currently Coordinator of the Technology, Business Management and Environment Laboratory (Latec), Coordinator of Doctorate Program in Sustainable Management Systems and Professor at Fluminense Federal University (Brazil). He has published many books, as organizer and author. He has experience as editor and referee in many journals and reviews.

Gilson Brito Alves Lima is a Civil and Safety Engineer. He has a PhD in Industrial Engineering (COPPE-UFRJ). He is an Associate Professor at Department of Industrial Engineering, Federal Fluminense University, Brazil. His research has been focusing on industrial safety, risk management, industrial maintenance and environmental management in the industry, areas where he has an extensive record of publications.

Nicholas Van-Erven Ludolf holds a master’s degree in management systems from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and a post-graduate MBA in Organization and Strategy; he graduated in Production Engineering from Universidade Federal Fluminense. He is currently a PhD candidate in Sustainable Management Systems (UFF). He acted as Manager in the area of quality management in Large Porte company in the sector of Shipbuilding.

Marcelo Jasmim Meirino is a Professor at the School of Engineering of the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), the Doctoral Program in Sustainable Management Systems (PPSIG UFF) and the Master Program on Management Systems (MSG UFF). Meirino is a Doctor in Civil Engineering (UFF), emphasis in Management, Production, Quality and Sustainable Development, an Architect and Urban Planner (UFRJ), has a master’s degree in civil engineering (UFF), is an Occupational Safety Engineer (UFF) and Coordinator in the Innovation Center and Technology for Sustainability (NITS/UFF) and the National Congress on Management Excellence (CNEG).

Chrystyane Abreu is a Professor at the Federal Center for Technological Education of Rio de Janeiro (CEFET/RJ) in the Coordination of Industrial Engineering. In addition, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). She holds a PhD in Production Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ and has completed 12 months of research at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), where she graduated in 2017. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering from Universidade Federal Fluminense in 2008 and has a master’s degree in Civil Engineering by Universidade Federal Fluminense in 2013.

Rosley Anholon is currently a Professor of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Materials (University of Campinas, Brazil), experienced in Quality Management, Production Systems and Sustainability. He holds BSc, MSc and PhD at University of Campinas.

Júlio Vieira Neto has a PhD in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Fluminense, Master in Management System (UFF) post-graduate with MBA in Organization and Strategy and MBA in Business Management, graduated in Business Administration. He is currently Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Fluminense in the Department of Accounting Sciences. He had worked as an Executive in the area of new business development in large- and medium-sized companies in the telecommunications and packaging sectors.

Leandro Silva Goulart Rodrigues holds post-graduate with MBA in Project Management (Fluminense Federal University - UFF) and a MBA in Labor Relations Management (Dom Cabral Foundation), graduated in Business Administration at the Federal Center for Technological Education of Rio de Janeiro (CEFET). He is currently a Master’s Degree candidate in Management Systems (UFF). In addition, he is a Specialist in Organizational Development at the National Cancer Institute of the Brazilian Ministry of Health. He had worked in areas such as strategic planning, human resources and trade marketing in multinationals companies in the building (Lafarge) and oil (Chevron) sectors.
