Scientific and technical special libraries — encouraging intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial attitudes. In many nations of the developed world science and technology funding has been drastically cut and in many nations in the developing world other priorities are more pressing. Librarians in Scientific and Technical Special Libraries know that, if they are to survive, they must follow closely the needs of their users and respond rapidly to changes in emphasis and direction of their parent organization. Since most of these libraries are small units with few staff (ranging normally from one to five) such survival takes the major part of their energy budget. However, if we wish to see science and technology restored to a prominent role in the development of society, we must play our part in recreating that vision.
