A new journal intended for a growing niche market – that of the rapidly evolving LIS arena of the former Soviet bloc. Useful for specialists in this important sector, it is an authoritative, solid journal providing good reviews, articles and analyses on “anything that touches on the practice of Slavic librarianship in North America, all of Europe, the former Soviet Union and elsewhere in the world. The journal will emphasise the current concrete and practical sides of Slavic librarianship although it will not exclude other subjects”. Worthy aims and the journal is off to a good start with such items as the Russian book trade in the late 1990s; Publishing trends in Poland and the Hungarian Press 1987‐1997. Definitely useful – if esoteric – reading for the growing coterie of Slavic and East European librarians worldwide.
