Revisiting design principles and guidelines for online makerspace services and programming in public libraries

Yong Ju Jung is an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Her research centers on learners’ social and affective interactions and information behavior with innovative technology across various learning environments, including libraries, museums, makerspaces and online settings. Her recent projects are about: children’s embodied data literacy and interest-driven learning; learning of youth with disabilities in library makerspaces; and adult learners’ wellness and informal learning. She earned a PhD in Learning, Design and Technology from the Pennsylvania State University as well as MA in Educational Technology and BA in Education from Korea University.

Soo Hyeon Kim is an Assistant Professor of Library and Information Science at Indiana University Indianapolis. As an information and learning scientist, Soo Hyeon explores ways to support STEM learning for socially marginalized groups in constructionist learning environments particularly through intergenerational participation. She received her PhD from Learning, Design and Technology program at the Pennsylvania State University.

Gi Woong Choi is an Assistant Professor of Instructional Design and Technology. Before coming to University of Cincinnati, he was an Assistant Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at SUNY Oswego. He is a learning scientist by training and has a background in human-computer interaction and user experience. Choi received his Ph.D. in Learning, Design and Technology from Penn State University. His current research interests include AI in Education, mobile learning, game-based learning, informal learning, problem-solving, makerspaces, educational affordances of technologies, learning technologies in higher education, HCI in education, etc. Choi also has professional experiences in game user experience design and GUI research and development.
