I AM DEEPLY grateful to the editor for his indulgence in permitting me to make a statement at this particular time. The events of the recent past have been a nightmare for me, yet it is not for my own sake that I address you now. Nor is it to excuse my behaviour which has been described as bizarre. I shall, of course, explain it in detail later, but it certainly needs no excuse.
