Organizing to meet and face the Web transition

Librarian who has worked in libraries, or companies automating libraries, for the last 27 years. Starting as a part‐time shelver at the St. Louis County Library when he was 16, he held a variety of increasing responsibilities, ending his career there as an assistant to the director. He then joined DRA where he worked for 14 years, ending his career there as their vice president of international business. In 1997, he worked for Innovative Interfaces as their vice president of sales and marketing. He recently left the firm to work independently writing articles and consulting, and has since been appointed vice president‐marketing for Ameritech Library Services. He holds an MLS from the University of Missouri at Columbia and is an active member of the LAL, LITA, PLA and the Exhibitor’s roundtable. In his spare time, he collects MG sports cars and toy trains, rides motorcycles, flies airplanes and plays golf
