Fuel Oil Additives Available to Purchase

A great deal has been written and even more spoken on the subject of fuel oil additives, but it is generally accepted to‐day, by the Technologists of major oil companies and by Chief Engineers of the large diesel engine manufacturers, that an additive to a fuel oil can, under certain circumstances, give beneficial results, both technically and commercially. As a direct result of engineers admitting the potentialities of such products, a large number of branded additives have mushroomed on to the markets of the world. The claims of the makers of these additives vary from the extravagant to the plain ridiculous, and many firms often manufacture one fuel oil additive, which is allegedly equally as suitable for motor fuel as for the heavy residual oils used in open hearth furnaces in the steel industry.
