SOME interesting figures have recently been obtained by the Cimcool Division of Cincinati‐Nederland N.V. on the savings that can be effected by the use of the correct cutting fluid—even if this costs a lot more than the one with which it is being compared. These figures have been supplied, by G. H. Overman, Manager of this division. They concern an exercise carried out in the U.K. involving centreless grinding of steel bars and the comparison was made between a Cimcool water‐based cutting fluid and a conventional soluble oil. The tests were carried out on a centreless grinder used for roughing operations over a period of nine weeks covering 14 grinding wheels.
