AN arc‐welding robot, the ESAB A30A, shown in Fig 1, installed at the Kristinehamn works of Saab‐Scania, in Sweden, has reduced by 40% the time required to produce rear axles for the Saab 900 car, and is expected to pay for itself in 24 months.
