Cincinnati Milacron robot line to be "reborn"
K & C Industrial Sales(Hamilton, Ohio) and Robotic Workspace Technologies (RWT) have formed a strategic alliance specifically to better support the Cincinnati Milacron robot line. K & C is the nation's leading supplier of field and remanufacturing services for the Cincinnati Milacron robot line. Robotic Workspace Technologies provides the PC-based, Windows® NT, open architecture Universal Robot Controller (URC). With the combined resources of K & C and RWT, Cincinnati Milacron robots can be rebuilt and retrofitted with new "brains", extending their useful life well into the twenty-first century.
When Cincinnati Milacron spun off the robot division in 1991, K & C purchased the existing inventory. Since that time, K & C has been supporting the installed base of Cincinnati Milacron robots, and also selling robots from its inventory complete with system integration, field service, and training support.
"The Cincinnati Milacron robot is an extremely reliable machine", says Ken Carrier, president, K & C Industrial Sales. "Their only shortcoming is that die control technology has not been upgraded during the past eight years. The alliance with RWT will now allow us to retrofit these machines with the state-of-the-art PC-based, open architecture Universal Robot Controller." explains Mr Carrier. "Our customers have been looking for a practical means to assure the continued availability of these workhorse robots. Now, with the URC controller, the robots will be better than new, and easily redeployable."
Robotic Workspace Technologies recently announced the availability of its Universal Robot Controller (URC), which provides all the control functionality of the original,OEM controller, plus new features only possible on the PC-based, Windows NT,open architecture platform. These new functions are dedicated to improving accuracy, flexibility, productivity, communication, and integration. The URC eliminates the "isles of automation" that have characterized robotic workcells and supports SPC, ISO-9000, inventory control, scheduling, and other automated information gathering and decision making directives in support of manufacturing efficiency.
